The Trail of the Templars

Who were the Knight Templars, and why do they still matter today? The answer to that question has been one of serious debate for decades, even centuries. When the Knights Templar was disbanded in 1314, several branches or sects of the Templars rose from the ashes to continue the crusade for Christians throughout Europe. Some Knights Templars were lucky enough to join a brother sect like the Knights of Christ in Portugal. Other former Knights Templars entered other orders, such as the Knights Hospitaller, and continued their Holy Quest. Some returned to their homes and lived out their lives in obscurity. Modern historians have continued to unravel the truth from the myth or fable surrounding the Templars for centuries. What we know about the Knights Templar is that they established military orders that have evolved into fighting units across the globe today.
